What do you meme?

It’s fascinating how much of our communication now occurs through social media, like Facebook. In my newsfeed, at least, I’m beginning to see a shift toward higher thoughts, ideals and purpose. Many are filling the airwaves with snippets of wisdom as produced by sites like Pinterest and Love Quotes. Others are working toward promoting nature, economic or humanitarian goals.

I found the one above this morning on a friend’s page.

Seeing all the shared photos, quotes and idea bugs (especially those strange Willy Wonka ones – where did those come from?) makes me think of a song…

(Sung to the tune of Old MacDonald) Mark Zuckerburg made a site… e-i-e-i-oooo… and on this site there were some memes. E-I-E-I-OOOO. With a meme, meme here and a meme, meme there… here a meme, there a meme, EVERYWHERE a meme, meme….

It’s important to be aware of the ideas being presented to us through the media and social networking sites.

Cyber-psychology is an emerging field.

This is from :

The ‘Cyberpsychology: Journal of Psychosocial Research on Cyberspace is a web-based, peer-reviewed scholarly journal. The first peer-reviewed issue was published in September 2007. The journal is focused on social science research about cyberspace. It brings psychosocial reflections of the impact of the Internet on people and society. The journal is interdisciplinary, publishing works written by scholars of psychology, media studies, sociology, political science, nursing, and also other disciplines.
