Changing tides…

There are so many ideas about what constitutes love. Perspectives. Wants. Needs. Desires. Efforts. Dreams.

We people define it.

We  people change it.

Sometimes it’s tough to navigate when life creates a whirlpool. Tossing waves and stormy seas. (Insert your own cliche sailing metaphor here.)

Sometimes people push you.

Sometimes people pull you.

Sometimes people can support you.

Sometimes people can accept you.

Sometimes people will reject you.

Sometimes people cannot understand your wants, needs, ideas, beliefs because of what they see. People have limits. And they’re not always to be hated, but hopefully acknowledged.

Limits are limits and examples of humanity. Little walls we build. And not all walls are harmful. Some keep rabbits out of the lettuce patch. We don’t see everything all at once. And besides, that would be quite startling!

Thus enters forgiveness.

“Aloneness and connection are like

tides in the sea of your heart,

separate tides, flowing in and out.”

– M.C. Richards
